Overview
This release is continuing the fortnightly release cycle for moving fast with changes to Silicon enhancing usability of the new base version.
This functionality will only apply to sites on the silicon base version of elementTIME unless otherwise stated.
This patch includes:
Timesheets and excess-time
[FIX] Fix rounding issue when calculating some specific durations – issue due to float x int conversions when transforming hours to milliseconds. Wait, what does that even mean? I hear you cry into the nether of the internet 🙂
Okay bear with me. So someone created time which is based on units of 60 (60 seconds into 1 minute – 60 minutes into 1 hour), but also a numbering system based on 100. So not every unit of time divides cleanly into a number – for example, let’s say a council decided they wanted accurate records of work and staff worked 73.7 hours over two weeks, which means they did 7.37 hours of work a day (73.7 divided by 10 days = 7.37 hours) – this is actually 7 hours and 22 mins and 12 seconds. So, for that to actually be accurate, it would mean the staff member works 7 hours, 22 minutes, and 12 seconds exactly per day. If they started at 8.30 am and had a 30min lunch break, at 4.22 pm they would say, “Oh no, I have 12 seconds of work left”. Does it get even more irrational? – Why yes, yes it does. Which is why you can have accurate timesheets or made-up timesheets – not both. Am I oversharing? Too much? Probably.
[FIX] Fix issue where the schedule cannot start before the role when the role starts halfway through a payrun period. Argh, we added this in Silicon, so we also taketh it away now. Kinda like when I was little, I got an awesome birthday present from my sister, and then it turned out she thought it was cool as well, so she took it back. Except this was not cool, nor was it done by my sister, nor was it my birthday present.
[FIX] Fix the icon that no longer displays on core when an entry is made on the mobile app. If people are costing from the mobile app, then that entry shows the mobile icon. It’s simple but actually helpful. So we added it back.
[FIX] Fix the issue with the auto-allowance condition for continuous hours that is throwing a 500 error when recording time from midnight. Okay, so this was pretty rare, but it showed up on our logs, and because we care, we fixed it.
[FIX] Fix issues with ad hoc allowance values not showing correctly. They were not updating until after final approval. Now they are showing when they need to. I gave myself a gold star. Which still means it counts.
[FIX] Fix hidden validation issue on schedule forms when there is RDO. The copy and move RDO is cool, right? But not if it throws a random error. Throwing random things is never really a great idea. So we sat down, had a talk about our big feelings, and agreed no more throwing (or biting).
[CHORE] Implement copy and paste day data on schedule for work pattern. This is super handy. Who wants to rekey configuration on schedules? Copy and paste is where it’s at. I am not even Gen whatever, and I still fully support the ability to avoid manual rework. That is not lazy – just smart.
[CHORE] Allow ad hoc allowances award rate to have more than 2 decimal places. We shouldn’t put limits on aspirations, and if an allowance value needs more than two decimal places, we should allow it to have as many as it needs. So we got rid of this silly notion of conformity and removed the rounding. Now those allowance values can be any value they want to be, and we fully support their right to do so.
Leave
[FIX] Fix error where managers can “submit” their reports leave requests on behalf that were already submitted and even approved. Everyone loves leave, right? But having multiple requests for the same date and time can cause some issues, so we stopped that from happening.
[FIX] Fix issue with role managers not getting picked up on leave workflow. Speaking of leave. It is super annoying if you are a role manager, but leave requests are skipping you and just going to direct managers. So we stopped that. If you are on the workflow, you get the work.
[FIX] Fix issue where if a leave request is across multiple payruns, then each split request shows as automatically approved when finally approved. Look, credit where credit is due. You approve a leave request, it should have your name on it, even if it is a split request – so now it does. Do the work and get the props just like you should.
[FIX] Fix error where leave requests do not deduct breaks consistently. Depending on when you started or ended, the way leave requests handled scheduled breaks was inconsistent. So now, it is consistent.
Reports
[FIX] Fix issue where individual leave bank transactions report doesn’t generate. Now it does.
[CHORE] Fix issue to ensure manual file upload works for Silicon sites. I am sure you are very glad to know, yes – yes it does 🙂
[FIX] Ensure report “Excess-time by payrun” works on silicon. Yes it does.
[FIX] Ensure report “Leave accrual by payrun” works on Silicon. Oh, so does this one.
[FIX] Fix issue with total hours shown on timesheet PDF file. The total hours were sometimes not the total hours. I mean, what part of the word total did we not understand? Turns out most of it, so we did some learning and now total means total. We also fixed the fact that if a timesheet had no data, neither did the PDF – now it does. It just shows zero where relevant instead of a ghost PDF because hello ghosts – scary.
API / Mobile and Kiosk
[CHORE] Allow timer to work in a different timezone and implement schedule job in a running timer. We were fixing the real-time timer to the tenant, not the device. Now we sorted that out, so if you are lucky enough to travel time zones for local government work, you can still use the timer correctly 🙂 Also, the schedule a job for the day is pretty cool, so we added that as well.
[FIX] Fix issue where worked hours are being combined incorrectly on integration with Authority and entry reports. Depending on the return from Authority, some worked hours were tried multiple times and sometimes succeeded. So we built this cool little addition to our integration to allow us to control how data runs via API services to solve issues like this.
Other stuff
[FIX] Fix issue with deleted pay bands where pay types were not deleted as well. It’s never fun having records that are not linked to anything lying around, even if this can only happen during setup. So now it can’t.
[PERF] Fix timesheet import tool performance issues. Now related records and totals calculate async only after work records and allowances are imported.
